I suppose going Mac is a choice, to see if the grass is really greener in Apple land. "experts" don't expect it to work than us mere mortals shouldn't either. I now see that is simply a naive notion and the MS experts don't ever expect that to happen. I suppose I am a dummy that has this naive notion that MS can make its products compatible with each other. Even have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Now OC won't work with my msn acct through Outlook 2007. Did so about 30 times and it never has worked. I got a message the OC needed updating today. But thank you for your input, it would appear that Office 2010 Outlook still needs a "connector", in which case I will pass on the "upgrade". Mail is a tool, it needs to work with mail accounts, espeically Microsoft's own MSN accounts. sure I know what these are, but your end user doesn't know or care to know and they shouldn't need to know. Microsoft are losing market share because they're expecting the end user to know things then shouldn't need to know. I'm not trying to be rude, but I hope you understand where I'm going with this. WORK WITH YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR IN OUTLOOK 2010 UPGRADEIf Office 2010 is not addressing a fundamental problem with my MSN account, then there is no reason why I would want to upgrade - I don't care if Office 2010 offers 1000 new features, if it still corrupts my MSN mail. Microsoft product, Microsoft accounts - paying customer, NOT the customer's job to make this work, it's Microsoft's job. End users don't care and shouldn't care when their account was created - and most users probably couldn't even answer that question and really shouldn't need to. If Apple can do it with my MobileMe accounts and their OSX SL mail product, I don't see why Microsoft can't? But why are you even asking me that question? Why should I even need to know whether or not my account is "older" or is an "outlooklive" account or is a account. Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook IMAP is probably what you need if you need more folders. As to the rest of your question - Diane is exactly right. WORK WITH YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR IN OUTLOOK 2010 SOFTWAREUnless you're specifically testing the upgrade scenario you don't want to do an in-place upgrade with beta software anyhow. WORK WITH YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR IN OUTLOOK 2010 INSTALLFull remove and clean install when replacing it with released software. Don't install it on mission-critical production machines. Then let me amend my response - if you can't afford to run a beta, then you won't be running Office 2010 for a few more months anyhow. Give that Outlook Connector in Office 2007 has successfully corrupted my MSN account several times, I'm not prepared to install Office 2010 Beta on a separate computer and use with my MSN account.įair enough. This was true with VS 2005, VS 2008, Vista, Win 7, Office 2007 and the beta's are NOT supported by Microsoft. Perhaps I should clarify, any beta (not just Office) from Microsoft has more often than not, required a complete system wipe and re-install relative to my experience over the past decade or so. I plan to write a bit more about how I wrote it and some of the technologies used (StructureMap, MSpec) when I get chance.Ben, Not sure where I said I was running office 2010 beta? My questions was aimed at those that are running office 2010 beta. Features and problems can be logged on github or in the comments here. Please don’t hold me responsible if it deletes all your entries, creates crazy new appointments or wipes your hard disk and if you find it useful let me know. My testing has found the synchronisation to work okay so far but there is no real logic on matching moved entries (yet), but as we know version 1 sucks anyway WORK WITH YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR IN OUTLOOK 2010 CODEThe code is pretty rough at the moment without enough error handling or unit tests, but that will change when I get time. You can make the application sync at any time by pressing the sync icon, and change the settings by clicking the settings icon ![]() I have plans to make it much less garish when I get chance. The add in will then sync your Calendar’s every time you login. WORK WITH YOUR GOOGLE CALENDAR IN OUTLOOK 2010 PASSWORDWhen the add in loads for the first time you will be prompted by a settings boxĪfter entering your details and clicking Save your details we be kept in the file with the password encrypted. The add in allows you to specify your account details and the number of months of historical and future appointments to sync. ![]() I have uploaded the inital code to github and you can find more details and get the source here I decided to write my own Outlook 2010 VSTO add-in which will sync my entries every hour for the past couple month and three months in the future. I use Outlook 2010 at work and Google Calendar at home and on my phone and found after upgrading from Outlook 2007 that the sync tool that Google have only works with Outlook 2003/2007.
